Cage Warriors – Europe’s Leading MMA Organisation – will return to Newcastle for the first time in nine years this November.
The event – numbered CW 164 – will take place at the Vertu Motors Arena, home to the most successful team in British basketball history – the Newcastle Eagles – on Saturday, November 25th.
Tickets for the event go on sale on Friday, July 7th, with fans able to sign up for an exclusive presale taking place on Thursday, July 6th.
With bouts for the event set to be revealed in due course, the Cage Warriors roster currently boasts a wealth of talent from the North East of England.
Outgoing lightweight champion George Hardwick and flyweight title holder Shaj ‘Superman’ Haque both hail from the region, as do feather and welterweight contenders Harry Hardwick and Justin ‘Burlo’ Burlinson.
The promotion is no stranger to ‘The Toon’, having staged multiple events in the city featuring some of the biggest names in European MMA.
CW 62 featured the likes of UFC veterans Curt Warburton, Chris Fishgold and Ian Entwistle, while CW 73 presented a blockbuster double main card, with local hero Alex Enlund winning the featherweight title in a five-round classic against future UFC star Nad Narimani.
“The North East of England has become a hotbed for talent,” said CW President Graham Boylan.
“With fighters from the region enjoying unprecedented success in Cage Warriors, it’s time to give the fans what they deserve; the opportunity to see future UFC stars in action as part of ‘The Draft of MMA’, live and in person.
“We’re planning a huge card for our debut at the Vertu Motors Arena.
”I’m expecting fireworks on November 25th!”
“We are excited be working with Cage Warriors in bringing their event back to Newcastle, said Sam Blake, the Eagles Community Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer.
“Having hosted a huge calendar of globally televised basketball, boxing and MMA, in front of packed crowds, over the last 12 months, the Vertu Motors Arena has become the venue for so many sports and promoters and we’re delighted that Cage Warriors is now among them.”
Fans can sign up to be first in line for ticket information and access to the exclusive presale.
