Recap
A full-strength Eagles side were looking to avenge a loss earlier in the season from Cheshire wire and were looking to take the game from a team who stole a win from them last time these two teams met…
Your home team Eagles didn’t get off to the best start, after drawing an early foul, the away side quickly took a 7-1 start only one minute into the game. After some damage control and on the back of Kande and Lievin’s early pressure inside your Eagles trailed 17-14…
The second period was a vast improvement for the home side, scoring easily and disrupting the away side easily inside…. starting the quarter on a 14-6 run meant the Eagles had the upper hand. The away side hit some big three’s down the stretch, however the continued inside presence of Lievin inside and Moore cleaning up the mess on the glass allowed your Eagles a slight but not important 38-36 halftime lead.
The second half saw the home team continue to make it difficult for Cheshire to score, only scoring 6 point in the first six minutes of play, and your eagles scoring 12 with Moore hitting a big 3 and getting easy inside looks… and with 8 points from Lievin in the final 2 minutes of the quarter the home side had a 57-51 lead going into the last quarter.
The last quarter showed two big runs from both teams, your eagles getting out to a 10-0 point run early in the quarter forcing the Wire coach to call a time-out and readjust. From there Wire stormed back with 9 points and trailed by only 3, but a big shot by Ridley down the stretch, and two clutch free throws from Kande sealed the win for your Eagles…
Eagles U18 Coach Jay Hawman said afterwards ‘I’m really proud of the guys today, they showed calmness and maturity to stick to the game plan, especially after a poor first quarter they really pushed back and didn’t give in. Everyone contributed, and that’s what you want to see as a coach, we thoroughly deserved the win’
