Newcastle U14s lose on the road to City of Leeds
Eagles started the first quarter slow on the back of their captain Weech as he sparked the eagles scoring as the home team struck first and quickly built up a lead . Eagles answered with some big shots of their own as Peters led the offensive charge. The home team capitalised on some defensive breakdowns on the Eagles part as the first quarter ended 29-11.
Quarter 2, after a few adjustments on defence the Eagles slowed down the home team from the mid-range but opened up other issues on the interior defence, the City of Leeds out scored the Eagles team in this quarter and Eagles went into the half time down by 46 – 30
Quarter 3 the eagles came out strong putting the home team in foul trouble and getting to the line. But the home team put on a shooting clinic keeping it very close and hitting some big shots down the stretch Eagles won this quarter and and cut the lead to 9 . score 59-50
The Eagles came to play in the 4th and rose to the occasion and took the lead in the offensive charge against the home team hitting some big 3s from Sproul and Donaldson 4th quarter but Leeds held on to get the win by to 2 points .
U14s Head Coach, Calvin George said: “A disappointing result as we struggled in transition to score and play defence. Leeds have definitely made some big improvements and it showed. ”
