Recap
Newcastle U18s loose on the road at Cheshire wire
The game started with the home attempting to score from beyond the arc and succeeding. The eagles were slow off the mark to defend this, and this would come back later in the game to be one of the prevailing points to the loss. Eagles were missing big man Leivin and Evbouman, who were both unavailable for this game. The first 5 minutes saw the right momentum as the eagles dominated the defence as well as scoring well in transition. However, the next 5 minutes was a different tale as Cheshire wire mounted a comeback on an impressive shooting display. The first quarter ended 26-27
The second quarter saw more of the same as the Eagles found their offensive rhythm and but failed to rebound the ball allowing Cheshire to score a lot of second chance points. The first half ended 50-43.
The first half charge was led by Linsley and Ridley who were instrumental in keeping the eagles close. The third quarter saw similar mistakes being made by the eagles and rebounding the ball and Cheshire second chance would prove to be the undoing of all the work put in by the above mentioned scoring efforts.
The fourth saw Cheshire Wire take the final buzzer and the win 60-75.
U18s Head Coach, Calvin George said: “With our team missing a few individuals we failed to compensate for size and effort on the backboard and that was the main cause of todays unfortunate loss.”
