Recap
Eagles U18s took on Cheshire Phoenix at Newcastle college’s Ryehill Campus. The visitor’s started strong, scoring the first 4 points while the eagles found their feet. But 3 minutes into the game the eagles came back led by the energy brought by Ricardo Rizza.
The second quarter u18s failed to find the net as their field goal percentage dropped significantly as the visitors dominated the interior and post play. Cheshire did not take their foot off the gas pedal as they continued to dominate the boards on either end. The first half ended 25-35.
3rd quarter saw much of the same both team didn’t shoot the ball particularly well but the home teams turnovers in transition saw the visitors capitalize on this area scoring easy layups and punishing the Eagles for these mistakes.
In the 4th quarter it was very much of the same with the home team outscoring the visitors but failing to comeback adequately with defensive stops. The game ended with final score of 53-65 .
Eagles u18s coach Calvin George said “Disappointed with overall performance as this team finds its feet as we got caught out on very simples mistakes, we failed to control the overall tempo and pace and continued to rush the possessions. We need to value the possession a bit more and rebound more effectively.”
