Newcastle Eagles basketball stars will benefit from world class support throughout the year after the club rubber-stamped a key off-court partnership.

David Lloyd Clubs Newcastle is the official health club partner for the most successful franchise in British basketball history.

And that means the club’s BBL and WBBL players can access post-game recovery and additional training at one of Tyneside’s top health and fitness facilities.

Gerard McCaughey, David Lloyd Newcastle’s Assistant General Manager, said: “We are delighted to offer the Newcastle Eagles players a place to relax and unwind during their busy season.

“We have recently launched basketball into our DL Kids programme and we look forward to being able to provide more pop up sessions and events with coaches and players as part of our partnership.

“Having been to my first basketball game recently, I can see why it is a sport which is growing rapidly.

“I’m excited to be able to offer our members tickets and hopefully get more youngsters into basketball.”

Newcastle’s men’s and women’s teams qualified for the 2023 BBL and WBBL playoffs and head coaches Marc Steutel and Noelia Cacheiro are recruiting next season’s rosters now.

Access to David Lloyd Clubs Newcastle is part of a package offered to all incoming Eagles’ players with many of last season’s fan favourites benefitting from a wide range of off-court support.

“We’ve been working with the team at David Lloyd Clubs Newcastle for several months now and it’s a partnership that’s going from strength to strength,” said Eagles’ Managing Director, Paul Blake.

“Both the men and the women face a tough schedule and lead busy lives — on and off the court.

“Knowing that the facilities at David Lloyd Clubs Newcastle are on their doorstep provides them with peace of mind and a safe space in which to relax, recover and reboot.

“We want our players to benefit from the best support possible and this partnership enables us to do just that.”
