The British Basketball League (BBL) and Women’s British Basketball League (WBBL) have announced adoption of the new Molten BG4500 Basketball as the “Official BBL/WBBL Game Ball” for competitions starting with the 2020-21 season.

This ball replaces their GGX model last used in top-flight men’s and women’s British basketball until the 2019-20 seasons were cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Adopting the new BG4500 ball means that Molten’s distinctive and patented 12-panel design will have been the exclusive and official ball of the BBL for nearly 15 years.

This new ball is made from a premium composite leather and is FIBA approved BG4500 until 2023.

Molten told us that players will feel “a new surface texture which gives the ball an optimum grip over the traditional pebble-grip basketballs, even when in contact with sweat or moisture”.
