Eagles Community Foundation have been awarded the English Basketball Fellowship Trophy for 2025.

The honour was presented on court just moments before Newcastle Eagles tipped-off in their Super League Basketball home game at the Vertu Arena last Friday, November 14.

The English Basketball Fellowship, founded in 1980 by members of the English Basketball Association, consists up of invited members who have given long service to the development and promotion of the sport. They continue to support the promotion and development of the game.

Fellowship Chair, Andy Milbourne, said: “This prestigious award highlights the Eagles Community Foundation’s sustained commitment to making basketball accessible and inclusive for all.

“Their efforts not only foster talent but also build strong community ties whilst supporting personal development and healthy lifestyles.”

The Fellowship were impressed by the breadth work across the North East and the way in which the Foundation brings so many different initiatives under the Eagles umbrella, creating a clear pathway from grassroots to the top level of the sport for players, coaches, officials, and administrators.


Eagles Community Foundation CEO, Sam Blake DL, added: “We are honoured to receive such an award which acknowledges the hard work of everyone across the years providing a player pathway structure to our young people in the North East of England.”
