The European North Basketball League (ENBL) have announced that Go+ Peja will not continue to participate this season.
Newcastle Eagles were due to travel to Kosovo for an away game on Wednesday 11 February, however this fixture has now been cancelled.
Peja refused to play an upcoming home game against Czechia’s BK Olomoucko on Monday 26 January, becoming their second forfeit of the season.
Having previously awarded a forfeit to the Kosovars for not showing up their regular season away game at Olomoucko earlier this month, the ENBL have ruled that the club cannot continue to compete.
As a result of the league’s decision, Newcastle and Olomoucko will each receive 20-point wins for Peja’s two further forfeits.
In addition, the ENBL have stated they will be issuing a 25,000 Euros penalty fine against Peja and exploring further sanctions against the club.
This coming Tuesday night, the Eagles welcome Croatian side KK Dubrava to Tyneside for their penultimate tip-off of the 2025/26 European campaign.
Newcastle’s final ENBL pool stage of the season will now be at the Vertu Arena on Friday 6 February against BK Olomoucko.
Tickets for all home games are available on the box office.
