Fab Flournoy and Charles Smith were present at last night’s Sport Newcastle Awards at Newcastle Civic Centre to receive the Frank Brennan Award for sporting achievement.

This is the second time the club has won this honour, previously awarded in 2006. Past winners include Durham CCC, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Steve Cram, Paul Collingwood and the Great North Run team.

The 600 strong audience were also present to see Steve Harper pick up the Wilkinson Sword and Alan Pardew was awarded Sports Personality of the Year, a trophy won by Fab Flournoy back in 2009.
