It is still early days in the NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme, but as its growth and pace increases across the country here at the Eagles Community Arena we are proud to have been the hosts of another monumental day for Newcastle’s fight against coronavirus.
Today a grand total of 1,254 people received the coronavirus vaccine at the arena, a one-day single-site record for the city.
In the week leading up to Christmas the team at Newcastle GP Services first took over the venue as a Newcastle Primary Care Network community site for its first 12-hour day of vaccinating when over 1,000 received the Pfizer/BioNTech jab.
The previous high was beaten today with time to spare over a steady 9-hours as NHS, Newcastle GP Services and Eagles staff were joined by an army of volunteers.
The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk from coronavirus who are being contacted with further information.
Do not to contact the NHS to get an appointment or attend a COVID-19 Vaccination Centre until you hear from your GP.
You can find out more about the vaccine and the vaccination programme on the NHS website.
If you can work or volunteer at a vaccination centre, in clinical and admin roles, working as marshals and more, find out all the details on the Newcastle GP Services website.
