Newcastle Eagles are delighted to announce that Newcastle International Airport will continue as the Women’s team’s main sponsor for the 2025/26 season.

The airport’s logo will take pride of place once again when the Eagles tip-off in their new hummel kits, starting with a pre-season warm-up game this Sunday afternoon away at Caledonia.

Fans will get the first chance to see head coach Chloe Gaynor’s Women’s Super League Basketball (SLB) roster in the new iconic designs against Sheffield Hatters on Sunday 21 September at the Vertu Arena.

Alice Andreasen, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Newcastle Airport, said: “We are proud to extend our partnership with the Newcastle Eagles and continue as their women’s team’s main sponsor for the new season.

“At Newcastle Airport, we are passionate about inspiring more women to pursue careers in aviation, which aligns with the Eagles’ commitment to champion women in sport and empower local communities.

“After a fantastic season which saw the team draw record-breaking crowds, we look forward to supporting the players once again when the new season gets underway.”

This year the club’s Official Airport Partner celebrated its momentous 90th birthday, just as the Eagles women’s team was celebrating its highest-ever finishing league position, third in the SLB Championship.

Success on the court has been backed up by another year of record-breaking attendances for women’s basketball at the Vertu Arena, with the franchise aiming to fly higher in the 2025/26 season.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Newcastle Airport back on board for another year,” said player-coach Chloe Gaynor.

“The airport’s support last year was incredible, both on and off the court. It has been especially exciting how they’re helping us grow our fanbase within the airport’s local community, encouraging a new generation of fans to get on board with us.”

Thanks to this extended partnership, community groups and schools local to the airport will benefit from free tickets to women’s games for a second year running.

Newcastle International Airport has connected the club to the world more than ever in recent years, with eight of our women’s team flying into the city this summer and the men’s team becoming frequent flyers as they prepare to compete in their third back-to-back European North Basketball League (ENBL) season.

“Newcastle Airport’s continued support is game-changing for women’s basketball in the North East,” said Newcastle Eagles’ Managing Director Paul Blake.

“As the franchise and our sport continues to grow, we need backing from the region’s business community more than ever, and this extension of our women’s team’s biggest partnership gives us a big lift going into the new season.

“We congratulate the airport on an amazing milestone this year and are delighted to celebrate with them as our Official Airport Partner.”

Both the Eagles men and women are in action this Sunday in pre-season hoops. The women have a 4pm tip-off at Caledonia Gladiators, before the men get underway with their final warm-up game at home against Bristol Flyers from 4:30pm.

Tickets for the women’s opening SLB Championship game on Sunday 21 September at home to Sheffield Hatters are available from the box office.
