The U16 Girls Academy side recently benefitted from an overnight stay after local company @Basketmedia365 provided sponsorship for the trip.
With two games in two days, the players, coaches and staff stayed at the picturesque Ilam Hall in Derbyshire. They enjoyed a team meal, fun activities, a countryside walk in the stunning rural location and even a super impromptu piano performance from young guard Sheffield Ha.
“Having previously sponsored the Eagles WBBL team, it was a natural extension to continue supporting women’s basketball by provide some support for the Eagles Academy, since they really do a fantastic job in providing opportunities for young players,” said Paul Nilsen of @Basketmedia365 and who also double up as Assistant Coach.
“While basketball is always front and central, it’s also important to recognise the importance of young athletes having the chance to spend some quality time together off the court.
“The Premier division is an enjoyable but very challenging environment for everyone across the girl’s programme. With that in mind, it was good to be able to briefly push the pause button by reflecting and unwinding in a different environment for a short time.
“I am sure the trip will be an experience and memory the girls will cherish for some time and they were a credit to the Eagles Academy with the way they conducted themselves throughout the trip.
“Hopefully there will be opportunities in the future to continue promoting and supporting girls and women’s basketball, which is the main mission of @Basketmedia365,” concluded Nilsen.
Development Manager Ian Macleod gave his thanks to Paul for his support, adding: “These type of rich experiences are what the players will remember most about their time in the Academy.
“The camaraderie, life skills and the relationships they build will far eclipse the memories of scoreboards and scoresheet.
“Have the support of local businesses and invested people who are willing to go the extra mile and give selflessly to support such experiences is crucial.
“I would personally like to thank Paul Nilsen and @BasketMedia365 for their support.”
