Newcastle Eagles will face European North Basketball League (ENBL) opposition from three new countries in the 2024/25 season as the groups are announced.

The Eagles land in ENBL Group A this time out, joined again by 2023/24 Final 4 runners-up CSO Voluntari from Romania and the Latvian Valmiera Glass VIA.

Estonian side Tartu Ulikool, the third place finishers in Group A last season who were knocked out of the Playoffs by Voluntari, could be making a return to Tyneside having last faced the club in the final of its 2016 pre-season European invitational tournament.

Exciting new opposition await all the group’s ENBL returnees with new teams from Czechia and Poland added to the mix, along with clubs from three new countries for us to face in Bulgaria, Slovakia and the Netherlands.

Czechia’s BK Opava finished second in their domestic league last year, three places higher than fellow Czech club Basket Brno who visited Newcastle last season in the Eagles’ historic first European home game and win.

Former Eagle Rickey McGill and his new teammates from Poland’s Dziki Warszawa are also confirmed to tip-off against coach Steutel’s new-look roster.

The ENBL have added three new countries this season as Bulgarian National Basketball League’s third-placed Spartak Pleven, Slovakia’s Spisski Rytieri and the Netherlands’ Donar Groningen also join our Eagles in Group A.

Fellow British team Bristol Flyers find themselves in Group B this year against ENBL Champions Bakken Bears and more new clubs and countries, including Bamberg Baskets from Germany and Norway’s Fyllingen BBK.
