Recap
The Eagles were looking to get back to winning ways and to keep themselves top of the table… The Eagles travelled minus Blake Keeble and Ishmael Ingram through injury… Liverpool were playing in front of a big crowd looking to improve on their 3-1 record….
The game started at a fast and furious pace with the visitors in white putting great pressure on the home side as they went up early doors… The home side then hit back before some great offence from the Eagles including 9 points from the perimeter…. The period ended 21-29….
The 2nd quarter was a much closer affair as the Eagles found it hard to contain Liverpool’s MVP James Griffiths inside presence and Parkinson from the perimeter but the boys in white edged it with Rafael Camargo-Blas showing some great finishing around the hoop… The period ended 20-23… Making it 41-52….
The second half saw the home team come out of the blocks and shocked the young Eagles as they closed the gap up to a mere 4 points… The Eagles though were not to be denied as they steadied the ship after their time out and moved the score along…. The Stars finished with a slight advantage as they took it 22-16… (63-68)
The Eagles decided to open up again in the 4th and they took advantage of some ill discipline within the Liverpool ranks and made their free throws count… The home team dried up and the Eagles closed out the game with a good quarter 15-21… (78-90).
The Eagles head coach Graham Heath said “We travelled without one of our best rebounders and came up against a big Liverpool side with their MVP Griffiths dominating inside… We managed to get a good win with some great team offence and we mixed up the defence enough to disrupt them… We will be better prepared for them on the return….”
