Recap
The Eagles were looking to bounce back quickly from their tough away loss last week with the first of their three home games before the Christmas break.
The game started scrappy with both teams making turnovers early on before the Eagles regained some composure to score three quick baskets. The Eagles press was causing issues for Tameside who were struggling to get out of their own half and giving away easy lay ups. Eagles were being quite sloppy in possession too and missed some easy shots. However, after the initial 5 minutes the score was a comfortable 18-2 lead. The next five players came in very strong for the Eagles and moved the ball well to get easy scores. Their pressure was also too much for Tameside and the score was 39-2 after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the Eagles revert to half-court defence which gave Tameside a few more chances at the basket. It was quite comfortable for the Eagles but some errors were creeping into their play and some sloppy fouls gave Tameside opportunities from the line. At the half the score was 56-4 to the Eagles.
The second half was much of the same from the Eagles who were scoring at ease. To their credit Tameside fought hard and hustled after every loose ball. Unfortunately for them the Eagles were just a bit too strong and further extend their lead to 74-7.
The fourth quarter was similar to the opening minutes with both teams tiring and turning the ball over multiple times. The Eagles however closed out the quarter 10-2 to win the game 84-9.
It was very comfortable win for the Eagles who were not troubled much by the young opposition. Tameside worked hard for the whole game and impressively their heads did not drop with such a one-sided score. Eagles’ play was sloppy at times and they know they’ll have to perform much better against tougher opposition, but it was a good bounce back win.
Next up for the Eagles is a week off before taking on Leeds at home on the 1st of December.
