Recap
The short-handed Eagles were taking on Leeds force at home this week for the last of their three meetings this season.
The Eagles made a sluggish start to the game with Leeds taking full advantage with a 12-0 run to start the game. After a timeout the Eagles gathered a little bit of momentum and got a couple of scores to close the gap. However lapses defensively allowed the away team to get another score. Missed free throws by Eagles meant that Leeds were able to hold on to their lead and go 14-7 up into the 2nd quarter.
The Eagles were however finally getting in the game and starting to play defence as they knew they could which spurred their offence on and allowed them to close the gap to 1 at the half.
The start of the second half was a completely different story with defence leading to steals and fast break lay ups for the Eagles. The 14-2 run at the start of the half by the home team gave them full control of the tie and a 38-27 lead going into the last quarter.
Baskets were traded to finish the game and the Eagles managed to hold out to win 50-37. It was a tough home win for the Eagles who came up against a spirited performance by a young Leeds side who are yet to win a game but showed plenty of fight.
Next up for the Eagles is an away game to West Brom for their last match up of the season.
