Newcastle U18s win at home to Leeds Allerton
The game started with the home team attempting to set the pace from the tip off. The visiting team went on a 6-0 run as the Eagles needed to find their feet. The home team capitalised on the fact that the visiting team transition defence was almost too concerned by Evboumwan scoring that allowed Linsley and Ridley to pick up those points. 1st quarter ended 23-26 in favour of the visiting team.
The second quarter the eagles traded baskets with Leeds but with both teams only scoring 15 points but were equally matched. The first half ended 38- 41
The first half scoring was dominated by Evboumwan and Linsley. Coach Calvin from the eagles took his team into the locker room at half time to discuss the current situation in the game and the changes that needed to be made in the second half of the same.
In third quarter the home team made a few mistakes of their own allowing Leeds to score but overall the home team showed a renewed vigor and presence on the floor with defensive intensity being the key to success. The 3rd quarter ended 60-55.
The fourth saw the Eagles try to hold their ground and capitalise on the foul trouble that Leeds were in take the final buzzer and the win 83-70.
U18s Head Coach, Calvin George said: “Very disappointed in the 1st half of the game but was able to turn it around and get the win, but we need to make some serious changes ahead of our next weekend”
Eagles U18s have a long weekend ahead as they play a double header of Manchester Magic at Home on Saturday and Liverpool away on Sunday.
