After last weeks loss against Birmingham away, the Eagles were back at home against Cheshire for the last game of 2017.
The first quarter started out with fantastic play in all aspects, dominating rebounds, getting defensive stops and then rewarding that play with baskets for everyone on the other end. A quick 13-2 lead 6 minutes through the quarter allowed the Eagles to rotate early. It finished 17-5.
The second quarter was the closest as Cheshire score 14 points against poor defensive Eagles, this is where they would struggle the most. Cheshire would take advantage throughout the 10 minute period of easy free throws, which would be executed on many occasions. Eagles managed to scrape together some great runs scoring 16 points to finish the half 33-19.
The second half was one the visitors would win as the Eagles struggled to stop them heading to the free throw line, and Cheshire would convert again. The poor ball movement and poor structure meant the Eagles would struggle to take advantage and only scored 11 points. They would lead 44-32 heading into the last quarter.
The last quarter would be the Eagles highest scoring, they would convert and dominate the rebounds on both ends making it easy to share baskets and take advantage. Defensively however Cheshire would score 19. The last game of 2017 would be a victory the Newcastle Eagles u14’s.
