Recap
ROTHERHAM HAWKS 53 VS NEWCASTLE EAGLES II 98
Q1 Rotherham Hawks 9 vs Newcastle Eagles II 25
A confident start saw the Eagles dominate the quarter playing some quick efficient basketball which enabled them to share points across the team and take a good lead into Q2.
Q2 Rotherham Hawks28 vs Newcastle Eagles II 41
Maybe a little too confident following Q1, the second quarter was sloppy and chaotic. A rushed offence resulted in too many misplaced passes or missed shots and allowed Rotherham to get their hands on the ball and gain some confidence of their own allowing them to take the quarter by 3 points.
Q3 Rotherham Hawks 41 vs Newcastle Eagles II 74
Regaining an element of control we started to find passes and baskets once more and without playing particularly well managed to extend our lead to 33.
Q4 Rotherham Hawks 53 vs Newcastle Eagles II 98
A similar pattern to Q3 as we continued to dominate the scoring and saw the game out to take the win. A difficult game to summarise. A win and a healthy score, yet it felt flat. One too many road trips? A sense that we were never in danger of losing, and could go up a gear if needed? Just one of those days? Who knows? It was hard to watch at times and we’ve come away from losses this season in better spirits, but an ugly win is still a win, and as ever regardless of the performance, the togetherness of this team continues to make us proud.
PLAYER CONTRIBUTION: #20
Jacoby Wilson: Becoming more and more confident in his own abilities, he took up good positions throughout, asking for the ball and driving through contact to score some good baskets.
